Peer Mentorship Program
Students supporting students
Starting college can be exciting—but it can also feel overwhelming. The Peer Mentorship Program at Imperial Valley College is designed to help students navigate their academic journey
by connecting them with experienced peers who understand the challenges of college
life.
Whether you're looking for guidance, motivation, study strategies, campus resources,
or simply someone who has been in your shoes, our Peer Mentors are here to help. Through
one-on-one and small group support, mentors encourage students to build confidence,
develop effective academic habits, and create meaningful connections within the IVC
community.
Our goal is simple: to help every student feel supported, connected, and empowered
to achieve their educational goals.
Afterwards, maybe we can do sections like our Embedded Tutor Program Page and add
the following drop downs:

What does the program consist of?
The Peer Mentorship Program offers personalized support designed to help students
successfully transition to college and thrive throughout their academic journey. Participants

throughout the semester.
The program consists of the following:
-
One-on-one Meetings
-
Academic Success Workshops
-
Campus Resource Navigation
-
Community Building
-
Personal & Professional Growth
Our mentors are not academic advisors or counselors—they are experienced
student leaders who are passionate about helping fellow students feel connected, supported,
and confident throughout their college experience.
-
Difference between Peer Mentoring and Tutoring
-
While tutoring focuses on helping students understand course content, peer mentoring
focuses on the overall college experience. Peer mentors provide encouragement, share
effective study and organization strategies, connect students with campus resources,
and help them develop the confidence and skills needed to thrive throughout their
academic journey.
