mid-April.

You’ll earn the same credits, complete the same assignments, and get the same quality education—just in a shorter time.
Courses are offered in-person, online, or hybrid, giving you control over how you learn.

8-WEEK FAQ: PREGUNTAS + RESPUESTAS
|
An 8-week class is a regular IVC course offered in a shorter format. You’ll learn
the same material, but classes meet more often so you can finish in half the time.
|
|
IVC recommends taking 2–3 classes per session. For example, take three in the first session and two in the second—that’s a full semester!
This helps you stay focused and avoid overload.
|
Yes! As long as you’re registered in 12 total units across the 16-week semester (including both 8-week sessions), you’re still considered
full-time.
|
Financial aid is usually released the Friday before each session begins.
If you are taking both 8-week sessions, your first and second Pell Grant payments
are based only on your first 8-week classes and any full-term classes you’re enrolled
in.
When your second 8-week classes start, your enrollment level will be updated to include
those classes, and the rest of your Pell Grant will be released at that time.
You won’t lose any aid — it’s just the timing of the Pell Grant that changes. This
does not affect Cal Grant or SSCG.
Tip: Check with Financial Aid early to confirm your disbursement dates.
|
Yes! Register early for both sessions to make sure you get the classes and times that
work best for you. Your full-time or part-time status is based on your total units
for the whole semester.
|
Not harder—just faster! You’ll do the same amount of work as a 16-week class, but
with a quicker pace. Fewer classes at once means you can focus better.
|
Nope! IVC is expanding choices, not removing them. You can still take 12- or 16-week
classes. 8-week courses are just another flexible option to help you succeed.
