IVC employees partake in social distance fun after food distribution.
Imperial Valley College Kitchen has continued to provide imme-diate, short-term and long-term interventions to address food in-security experienced by our stu-dents. IVC Kitchen is also a USDA distribution site for Imperial Valley Food Bank.
The pantry has remained open during the COVID-19 pandemic and staff have worked diligently and creatively to serve these im-pacted students. They are provid-ing drive-through assistance and contactless home deliveries for stu-dents without transportation since IV Transit transportation does not route its way to Imperial Valley College due to COVID-19.
During the pandemic, IVC Kitch-en has seen a significant increase in requests for food assistance, hy-giene items, financial support, lap-tops, internet and school supplies. IVC Kitchen recently conducted a needs assessment and found that most of our students affected by the pandemic ranked food, hygiene items, and school supplies as the most pressing needs.
