IVC's Dual Enrollment program affords students the opportunity to take college courses while attending high school at the same time.

High school students are given the opportunity to earn college credit, achieve college and career readiness, explore career fields before starting college while saving money.

"We are excited to partner with Central Union High School District to provide dual enrollment courses in Automotive Technology," said Victor Torres, Associate Dean of Workforce Development and Non-Traditional Instruction. "This will provide students a viable pathway to our IVC program and students can earn a certificate and be hired by local industry partners right out of high school."

Central Union High School and IVC's Dual Enrollment Program recently made two automotive tech courses available for students, AUTO 085 and AUTO 130.

AUTO 085: This course consists of automotive safety, demonstrations of emergency situations, such as, changing a flat tire, replacing burned out lamps, and performing general vehicle maintenance and repairs. In  addition, the student will learn the correct and safe way to use basic hand tools.

AUTO 130: This introductory course covers the study of automotive electrical systems including basic diagnosis and service procedures on the various systems. Students will analyze, test, and repair electrical  problems using electronic equipment. Topics also include the construction, operation, and function of automotive electrical components.

Imperial Valley College courses are taught at the high school and/or online. High school students in the following high schools may apply: Brawley Union High School, Calexico High School, Calipatria High School, Central Union High School, Desert Oasis High School, Desert Valley High School, Holtville High School, Imperial High School, and Southwest High School.
