Successful Observations

Instructors will require different types of observations, but there are some aspects you will find in any type of observation. All observations must be factual, free of opinion, and non-judgmental.

An observation records the behavior that is performed. Behavior is what you see or hear someone doing or saying. When observing it is tempting to interpret children's behavior. It is important to describe and record objectively what the child does or says. Always write exactly what the child or person observing says.
