ASR Crime Statistics/Clery Act Information

Clery Notice of Availability - IVC Annual Security Report

Imperial Valley College is committed to providing everyone with a safe and secure campus environment. In accordance with the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act" (Clery Act), Imperial Valley College publishes an Annual Security Report to provide information regarding campus safety and security policies, crime statistics, and resources to current and prospective students and employees.

IVC is required by federal law to publish an Annual Security Report by October 1st each year.  This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning crimes reported to Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus IVC affiliated properties, and on public property adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes campus policies concerning crime prevention, crime reporting, alcohol and drug use, sexual and interpersonal violence, student discipline, and other matters. To access the Annual Security Report, visit https://www.imperial.edu/about/campus-safety/clery-act-information/. A hard copy of this report may also be requested by contacting the IVC Campus Safety and Parking Control Department at (760)355-6308 or 380 E. Aten Road, Imperial, CA 92251 (Campus Safety Office 902) during business hours.

The College issues two types of campus alerts: Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications. Timely Warnings are sent for Clery-reportable crimes that are determined to be a continuous threat to the campus community. Emergency Notifications have a wider focus than Timely Warnings and are issued for any significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of the campus community. Students, staff, and faculty can register and update contact information for these alerts at Regroup.  Everyone is encouraged to register their cell phone numbers so that they can receive text message alerts in addition to emails.

Campus safety is a collaborative effort that involves the entire campus community. The Campus Safety Department encourages victims, witnesses, and community members who are made aware of crimes to report all incidents to the IVC Campus Safety Department at (760) 355-6308 or (760) 483-7411.

What is the Clery Act?
The Clery Act, originally enacted by the Congress and signed into law by President George Bush in 1990 as the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, was championed by Howard and Connie Clery after their daughter Jeanne was murdered at Lehigh University in 1986. They also founded the non-profit Security On Campus, Inc. in 1987. Amendments to the Act in 1998 renamed it in memory of Jeanne Clery.
