Resources for Disabilities

DSPS & Dual Enrollment Pathways

Dual Enrollment programs allow high school students to take college courses and earn both high school and college credits. For students with disabilities, the Disability Support Program and Services (DSP&S) office at Imperial Valley College provides the necessary accommodation (s) and support.

Complete the DSPS Application: 1) Submit the DSPS Online Application, 2) provide verifying documentation such as an Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 Plan, or eligibility verification form.

To submit documentation, you can: 1) upload as you are completing your application, 2) drop-off at the DSPS Office, bldg. 2900, 3) fax to (760) 355-6434.

After submitting your application and documentation, a DSPS staff member will contact you for an orientation appointment with a DSPS staff member. During this meeting, appropriate accommodation (s) will be discussed.  Further academic and accommodation support will be provided by a DSPS counselor.

DSPS Application

Once enrolled, DSPS offers various services to support your academic success:

Academic Accommodations: Depending on your needs, accommodations may include extended test-taking time, note-taking assistance, or alternative formats for course materials.

Specialized Counseling: DSPS counselors can assist with academic planning, course selection, and navigating college resources.

Assistive Technology: Access to specialized software and equipment designed to support learning.

It's important to note that while DSPS provides accommodation(s), the college is not required to alter academic requirements as an accommodation for a disability or medical condition. If specific accommodation is requested, it may be approved; however, if not, DSPS will work with you to identify an appropriate alternative.

For more information, please call DSPS at (760) 355-6434. By engaging with DSPS, you can ensure that the necessary support is in place to facilitate a successful dual enrollment experience.
