Your needs and goals are unique. NextUp students may receive access to services and opportunities such as: 

Academic Support 

Academic and educational planning, counseling, registration support, progress check-ins, tutoring referrals, and assistance navigating college requirements. 

Financial Support 

Help understanding financial aid, grants, scholarships, Chafee Grant opportunities, CalKIDS, and other resources available to current and former foster youth. 

Basic Needs & Resources 

Connections to food, transportation, housing resources, emergency assistance, school supplies, technology, and community services when available. 

Transfer & Career Preparation 

University tours, transfer planning, UC and CSU preparation, internship and employment opportunities, career exploration, and connections with university foster youth programs. 

Community & Belonging 

NextUp gatherings, workshops, cultural and recreational activities, university trips, celebrations, and opportunities to meet other NextUp students. 

Advocacy & Personal Support 

A team that can help you ask questions, understand your educational rights, navigate systems, find resources, and advocate for yourself.
