Where we foster excellence in education that challenges students of every background
to develop their intellect, character, and abilities; to assist students in achieving
their educational and career goals; and to be responsive to the greater community.
We are currently accepting applications for the Correctional Academy. Enrollment is
on a first-come, first-served basis. Enrollment will close two weeks prior to the
start of the academy or once 35 qualified applicants have been accepted, whichever
occurs first.
The correctional academy we offer at the college is a state of California certification
in the Adult Corrections CORE Course. This certification is entry-level training for
local corrections jobs, such as working the Imperial County Sheriff's Office jail
or as a detention officer. It does not qualify you to work in the State prisons with
the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, which has its own hiring
academy.
