Imperial Valley College is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. As part of our compliance with the Clery Act and Title IX, we offer education and training programs to prevent and address sexual harassment, sexual violence, and other forms of sex discrimination.
Sexual harassment—including acts of sexual violence—is a violation of a student’s right to an education free from discrimination. Sexual violence refers to any non-consensual physical sexual act, including those committed against individuals who are unable to give consent due to intoxication, drug use, or disabilities. These acts include but are not limited to rape, sexual assault, sexual battery, and sexual coercion.
We provide training programs for students, faculty, and staff to raise awareness, promote prevention, and ensure compliance with Title IX protections.
Imperial Valley College is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students, faculty, and staff. As part of this commitment, the college provides training on sexual assault prevention, sexual harassment, dating violence, and stalking in accordance with the Clery Act.
Through this online training, students gain essential knowledge about their rights and responsibilities, how to recognize and report gender-based discrimination, and the steps to prevent sexual misconduct on campus. The training also covers important educational regulations and guidance to ensure a campus environment free from harassment and discrimination.
Some of the topics covered in this training may be emotionally sensitive. If you experience an emotional response while participating, support resources are available. You can visit the Get Help section on the Title IX page or contact the Title IX Coordinator at johanna.fisher@imperial.edu or (760) 355-6207. Additionally, 24/7 confidential support is available through the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) by calling 1-800-656-4673 or accessing their online chat hotline.
By participating in this training, students contribute to a campus culture of safety, respect, and shared responsibility.
Access the sexual harassment prevention training by self-enrolling in the Gender Equity, Sexual Harassment and Violence Prevention Training Course. Please follow the steps below to enroll and complete the training:
Under California Assembly Bill 1825 (Government Code Section 12950.1), all Imperial Community College District (ICCD) employees in supervisory roles are required to complete a 2-hour sexual harassment prevention training every two years. This mandatory training helps supervisors recognize, prevent, and respond to inappropriate workplace behavior.
To support a safe and inclusive campus, ICCD provides in-person training that equips employees with the tools to promote respectful conduct and take appropriate action when needed. Additionally, all District employees who are not confidential resources and become aware of possible sexual harassment or sexual violence involving students are required to report it to the Title IX Office or Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
For questions, contact Johanna Fisher, Title IX Coordinator, at johanna.fisher@imperial.edu
or Alexis Villa, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, at alexis.villa@imperial.edu.
Specialized training and certification for employees responsible for responding to and investigating Title IX violations is provided by the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA). The Imperial Valley College Title IX team have completed the ATIXA trainings listed under their names below.

Understanding consent, affirmative consent policies, and legal definitions.
The law defines consent as the affirmative, conscious, and voluntary agreement to
engage in sexual activity. Affirmative consent must be ongoing throughout a Title IX IVC Teamsexual activity and can be revoked at any time. Silence, the existence of a dating relationship or past sexual relations, is not by
itself assumed to be an indicator of consent. The person must act freely and voluntarily and have knowledge of the nature of the
act or transaction involved.
For more information or to report an incident, please contact the Title IX Coordinator johanna.fisher@imperial.edu or (760) 355-6207 or in Building 2500.
