FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

All students attending Imperial Valley College or SDSU Imperial Valley can apply to live in SDSU Imperial Valley and Imperial Valley College Intersegmental Student Housing. Additionally, students who meet low-income household criteria through one of the following programs — the Pell Grant, Cal Grant, California Community College Promise Grant or California Dream Act (AB 540) — will receive priority consideration as part of the program’s affordability focus.
To apply for housing, please fill out the interest form online first. The team from your respective institution, either the SDSU Office of Housing or the Imperial Valley College housing team, will contact you directly for more information.
The 11.5-month license agreement for a double room costs $7,860 per year, or $782 per installment. A single room costs $9,780 per year, or $970 per installment. All utilities are included in the cost, including water, Wi-Fi and electricity (up to a monthly cap), so there won’t be any additional costs pertaining to housing payments.
Roommates can be assigned if you have a person in mind who will also be living in the same type of room and/or if they are from the same institution as yours. If you don’t have a roommate and select a double-occupancy bedroom, the housing team will assign you a roommate based on your institution and preferences.
Each student’s award for financial aid is different. Financial aid, such as grants, loans and scholarships, is one of the primary forms of financial support that can cover some or all of your housing costs. We advise you to connect with your respective financial aid advisor(s) to assess your financial aid package and see what works best for you. For Imperial Valley College students, reach out to Elizabeth Sanchez-Reyna, Director of Basic Needs and Student Housing, via email at elizabeth.sanchez@imperial.edu.

* Service fee will show as a separate line item in their housing portal.
