Financial Aid and the CVC Exchange Q&A

Q: What is the CVC Exchange?

A: The CVC (California Virtual College) Exchange allows students currently enrolled in a California Community College to enroll in online courses offered at eligible colleges without filling out a separate application. You can enroll in courses to complete a certificate, degree, or transfer requirements.  Click here for general information regarding the CVC Exchange.

Q: Can I get a CCPG fee waiver for CVC Exchange courses?

A: Yes, however, Imperial Valley College cannot process the CCPG Fee Waiver for courses taken at another college.  You must add the other college to your FAFSA or CADAA in order to have the other college process the Fee Waiver.

If your home college is not Imperial Valley College and you are taking a course here via the CVC Exchange, please add Imperial Valley College (001214) to your FAFSA or CADAA to have your fee waiver processed.

Q: Can I get financial aid for CVC Exchange courses?

A: Yes, CVC Exchange courses may be counted toward your enrollment status for financial aid if you are an IVC student and meet the following conditions:

  • You must request for financial aid for the specific course on the CVC Exchange
  • You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at IVC.
  • The CVC Exchange course must be required by your current program of study.

Q: How can I check the status of my request for financial aid for a CVC Exchange Course?

A: Check your messages in WebSTAR

Q: When will I receive financial aid for my CVC Exchange Course?

A: Eligible courses will be added and counted toward enrollment status at the Freeze Date for the term, financial aid will then be paid (if enrollment status is increased) at the next scheduled disbursement date.

Courses added after the Freeze Date are not eligible for payment.
