Tyson Aye, 30, is entering his eighth year of collegiate coaching, third as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Imperial Valley College.  In just his 2nd season, Coach Aye led the IVC Men's Basketball Program to its first Pacific Coast Conference Championship in 13 years, with a 13-3 Conference Record, a 23-9 overall record, and a final ranking of 18th in the State of California.  Coach Aye also had 5 players earn All-League accolades:  Soph. Deveon Jenkins received Conference MVP honors, as well as 1st Team California All-State, Soph. James Hughes recieved 1st Team honors, Soph. Ben Thompson received 2nd Team honors, and Soph. Dean Curry, and Frosh. David Johnson both recieved Honorable Mention.

 

A California native, Coach Aye attended and played two years for Coach Rick Francis at Sonora High School in Sonora, California, then played his senior season under Coach Mike Bartee at J.W. North High School in Riverside, California where his team finished 27-5 and the CIF Southern California Runner-Up.  Upon graduation, Coach Aye played two years for his father, Denny Aye.  His sophomore year at Fresno City College, his team compiled a 26-8 record, and an 11th ranking in the State of California.  After FCC, Aye earned a scholarship to Concordia University, Irvine where he was a 2-Time Academic All-American and helped lead the Eagles to their first ever GSAC Conference Tournament Championship and trip to the NAIA National Tournament where his team eventually reached the Elite 8.  In 2000 Aye graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing.  Aye immediately began his coaching career at San Jose State University as an Assistant Coach for two seasons.  In 2003, Aye received his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Human Performance/Sport Management from San Jose State University.

 

Aye also had coaching stints for two seasons at San Jose City College where he coached under Hall of Fame Coach Percy Carr.  While there, his teams compiled a 47-17 record and earned a Coast South Conference Championship in 2004.  Aye then coached one season under his father Denny Aye at Marshalltown Community College in Iowa, where his team finished with a 25-9 record and a NJCAA Region XI Runner-Up Finish, which was the best season in the schools history.  In addition, all 7 sophomores from that team graduated, of which 6 received scholarships, 5 of them to NCAA Division I schools.  Aye has years of mentoring, coaching, and recruiting some of the best junior college players in the country and internationally.  Aye has coached 20 All-Conference players,

6 All-State players, and has helped 25 former players transfer on to four-year institutions to continue playing basketball.
