Associate Degree Registered Nursing Program
Dear Prospective student:
Effective Fall 2007, Imperial Valley College will begin implementation
of new admission and selection criteria for the Registered Nursing
Program. The new process is being implemented to meet admission
recommendations for nursing program admission from the State of
California Community College Chancellor’s Office, the California
Community College Nursing Alignment Committee, and the California State
Legislature.
The change in the application and selection process is
designed to be fair and equitable, increase student retention, and
maximize the number of graduating nurses. The new process enables
Imperial Valley College to be eligible to apply for future funding from
State agencies to expand, augment, and/or improve the program.
Effective immediately, applications will be accepted
from April 1 through April 30 for Fall admission and September 1 through
September 30 for Spring admission. In addition, students will need to
pass a diagnostic assessment test called TEAS (Test of Essential
Academic Skills) in the areas of Basic Math, English, Reading, and
Science. Students will also need to
complete a background check and drug screening prior to admission to the
program.
