Mus 29ABCD "Estudiantina" – The Latin Music

- Syllabus -
A. Course Content: Open to all students who wish to sing or play music stemming from the traditions of Mexican folk music and Latin jazz/pop music. Songs are sung in both English and Spanish. It is for singers and instrumentalists who wish to learn the basics of good vocal and instrumental performance.
B. Required Materials:
1. Musical materials will be supplied by the instructor.
2. Instrumentalists must have their own instrument (keyboards avail.)
C. Attendance Policy: Regular class attendance is expected and recorded. Poor attendance will lower student’s grade. No other class sessions are required other than occasional performances.
D. Policy on Homework & Quizzes: There are no written assignments however, vocal and instrumental performance requires several hours of practice outside of class. Two hours of independent work outside of class per each hour of lecture is strongly suggested
E. Grading Policy: 50%= Class Rehearsal Activities

30%= Live Performances (approx. 3)
a. Punctuality
b. Set Up and Tear Down Participation
c. Concert Attire
d. Preparedness
e. Stage Presence and Performance
20%= Final May Concert (Final)
