Snowy Plover - (Charadrius alexandrinus)

Snowy Plover photo copyright by James E. Kuhn This tiny, pale shorebird can be found visiting the Imperial Valley along the Salton Sea shoreline.

In addition to its small size, look for black bill, black legs and dark shoulder "smudges".
 
Compare with the similar-sized Semipalmated Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, and Western Sandpiper.
