Redhead - (Aythya americana)

Redhead duck photo copyright by James E. Kuhn This small diving duck can be seen resting in local canals or at Imperial Valley's small lakes.

Visitors to my Web site have suggested that local hunting information be added - after wrestling with my conscience, I think that a link to Ducks Unlimited is as close as I'll get to that issue.

If you are interested in learning more about this bird online - I recommend you start with the Patuxent Bird Identification InfoCenter, Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, Laurel, MD. http://www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/Infocenter/infocenter.html

They present photographs, songs, identification tips, maps, and life history information for North American birds - including the Redhead
