Ruddy Ducks with their short bodies and upturned
tails are commonly found in ponds and wetlands in the Imperial Valley.
Rafts of them are also found in large numbers at the Salton Sea. I know of a small, secluded pond where many
of them raise their young - when the males see me, their blue bills
vibrate up and down while they scold me for coming too close!
