Imperial Valley's bitterns spend their time
hidden in local marshes.
Least Bitterns are easier to "flush" from cover than the larger American Bitterns which tend to freeze and become part of the background when approached. Adult male Least Bitterns have a thin, white
line along the shoulders of their wings.
