Greater Yellowlegs - (Tringa melanoleuca)

Greater Yellowlegs photo copyright by James E. Kuhn A winter visitor to the Salton Sea shoreline, it feeds as it wades in the water by moving its head from side-to-side.

Bright yellow legs and a slightly up-turned bill help to identify this Imperial Valley shorebird.

The Lesser Yellowlegs is smaller and less likely to be seen inland this far from the Pacific coast.
