Health Assistant/Home Health Aide Programs

The Nursing Education and Health Technologies Division at Imperial Valley College offers Health Assistant and Home Health Aide classes throughout the year.   The Health Assistant (CNA)  Program prepares the student to take the State Competency exam at IVC after completion.  Students are then eligible for official certification as a nurse assistant from the State of California.  After completing this course, students are eligible to take the Home Health Aide course.  After completion of Home Health, students are awarded official certification from the State.  Students must pass the CNA State exam to be eligible for Home Health.  CNAs can work in a variety of areas, but most specifically the demand lies in long-term care agencies such as convalescent homes.  Home Health Aides work in the home, working under home health care facilities.
