GONZALO HUERTA
Dean of Instruction for Applied Sciences
Gonzalo D. Huerta has compiled thirty-five years of experience working as faculty and administrator in community colleges within Arizona and California. His duties, responsibilities, and achievements are well grounded in his participation as a training and education provider in vocational, technical, and occupational education. He has also served as consultant to Industry in the areas of manufacturing processes technology, welding technology, nondestructive testing/inspection, and industrial safety.
Born in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, Gonzalo and his family immigrated to the United States at the age of five. He attributes his professional success and his ability to contribute to the success of others to the educational opportunities and activities he has participated in throughout his life. The combination of formal education, family values/beliefs, and the wonderful world of being bilingual and bi-cultural have allowed him to earn his BS in Industrial Technology and his MA in Administration and Supervision.
As Dean of Instruction for Applied Sciences at Imperial Valley College in Imperial, California, Gonzalo leads a team of professionals that includes faculty, coordinators, directors, and staff in the delivery of services to students in a variety of educational programs.
Because workforce development and economic development are the driving forces to vocational, technical, and occupational education, and because there must be a direct connection to Business and Industry, Gonzalo has attained industry professional certifications such as: Senior Certified Engineering Technologist, American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector, and Certified Safety Professional.
