Men's Soccer

The IVC Men's Soccer 2014 Team had a great season, states Coach Rafael Contreras, "because this year we only lost by one goal towards the end of the games."


Their overall stats for this season was 4 wins, 3 ties and 9 losses. 


Two players, Jesus Cardenas (mid-fielder) and Hector Hernandez (forward) were selected to the All league 1st Team by the Pacific Coath Athletic Conference.

IVC MEN'S SOCCER OUTSTANDING ATHLETE - FALL 2014

Jesus Cardenas - Team Captain and a Mid-Fielder soccer player has been selected by Coach Contreras as an outstanding athlete.  Coach Contreras stated that he has superb skills recovering the ball.   He is also the team's biggest contributor.  Jesus is a extremley dedicated player and he is a great attacker. 

The Athletic Department would like to congratulate Jesus Cardenas on a being an outstanding men's soccer player.

Mesa's Reiling, IVC's Avina are Men's Athletes of Week

PCAC 2014-15 MEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

San Diego Mesa College water polo player Jesse Reiling and Imperial Valley soccer player Brian Avina have been named Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Men's Athletes of the Week by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

Reiling, a freshman utility player from Ramona High School, pumped in nine goals last Wednesday as the Olympians defeated San Diego Miramar 23-16 for their second PCAC victory without a loss.

Reiling has scored 12 goals in Mesa's two conference games to date.

Avina, a sophomore from Calexico High School, led the Arabs over Universidad  Xochicalco of Tijuana 4-0 in an international tournament hosted by the Arabs.

Avina scored goals against the Xochicalco Coyotes in the 13th minute, the 61st minute and the 82nd minute.

He's played a major role as IVC has gone 3-2 so far this season.

Honorable mention was awarded to Cuyamaca soccer player Zach Hollander, Palomar water polo player Cameron Rath and Grossmont football player Michael Carrillo.

Hollander, a sophomore from Granite Hills High School, tallied Cuyamaca's first and fourth goals, both unassisted, as the Coyotes turned back Fullerton College 4-2. Hollander assisted on Cuyamaca's other two goals.

Rath, a freshman attacker out of Poway High School, tallied six goals as the Comets won big against conference opponent Southwestern 20-5. He leads Palomar on the season with 12 goals in four games.

Carrillo, a 5-foot-11,180-pound freshman quarterback who helped propel Christian High School to the CIF San Diego Section Division IV championship last fall, led the Griffins to their first win, 17-14 over Pasadena City College, by connecting on 15-of-25 passes for 176 yards and a touchdown.
