 News & Updates

  • LVN-RN applications are accepted during the period of March 1-31 for consideration in the upcoming academic year.  The required admission criteria must be fulfilled at the time of applying, including completion of the TEAS Pre-entrance test and IV Therapy.  Students may apply with their last Science prerequisite in progress.  Students will be notified of enrollment in a Transition Course (NURS 204).
  • Completion of the Transition Course will determine placement in the generic RN Program, 2nd or 3rd semester level, if space is available in the coming academic year.  Students will be notified of their official standing in the program.  If admitted, enrollment begins with NURS 108 Gerontology.
  • LVNs are advised to meet with the Nursing Program Counselor, Stella Orfanos-Woo, to make sure of requirements and College resources.  Stella is available in the Counseling Department, Building 100, and can be reached by calling 760-355-6543 or 6259, or by email

IVC offers three (3) options for California licensed vocational nurses wishing to apply to the IVC RN Program, advance placement.  The Track I option allows LVNs to follow the educational path leading to obtain the Associate of Science degree in Registered Nursing.  Placement is considered for 2nd or 3rd Semester in the generic RN Program pending successful completion of a Transition Course.  Completion of the prerequisite courses with a 2.5 minimum GPA and the TEAS pre-entrance test are required.  Track II, 30-Unit Option, allows the LVN to complete 8 units of Sciences in Human Physiology and Microbiology with a 2.5 minimum GPA, take the TEAS, and seek admission in 3rd Semester.  The Transition Course is strongly recommended to prepare the student to transition into RN.  This option does not qualify the student for a degree, and a disclaimer form will be required when applying. Track III is for LVNs seeking to enroll in the entire RN curriculum starting in 1st Semester.  The generic application is required as well as meeting all criteria for selection.  All options qualify the student to take the NCLEX RN licensure examination.  More information is available on the 'Policy and Requirements' sheet below.
